Unbelievable!  Only word to describe conditions and being open for skiing and snowboarding on April 27.  Not just open, but 11 of 17 trails open on the front side of the mountain, serviced by Snowshoe Chairlift and Bunny Rope Tow.  Lifts will operate 9-4:00 Saturday and tickets are $25.00.  It seems like just yesterday I said " SKI BRULE IS OPEN FOR 2012/13" but it was November 2 .. one more week and it will be 6 months of snow!  Been wishing for a season like the one we are having!

Stay tuned in May for the best deals on lodging and tickets for the 2013/14 season.   The specials will be announced on Facebook and at www.skibrule.com .... a little bird told me something about $21 advanced lift tickets and 2006 lodging rates .... !

What a marvulous day yesterday!  Blue sky, winter temps, perfect  snow and good friends!  It certainly doesn't look like spring.  We're open today 9-4:00 and closed midweek.  Ski Brule anticipates opening next weekend (depending on mother nature).

It is just about as good as it gets today!  Sunshine, amazing snow and it's April 14.  I've never seen February conditions in April!  Lifts will operate 9-4:00 today and Ski Brule will be closed for snowsports Monday through Thursday and reopen for Friday, Saturday and Sunday (April 19, 20 & 21).  Tickets are $25.00

A video of my drive in to work today ... just to show you that it really does look like February!

It's no April fools joke ... Ski Brule is 100% open and we received 6" snow on Saturday, another 3" on Sunday and 3 more inches today! Ignore what the calendar says because it certainly doesn't look like April at Ski Brule. High today of 23 degrees but that didn't stop this crew from one spring break swimsuit run ... yes, they quickly skied to the cafe for a hot chocolate!

The snow is outstanding and the April deals are great! $25 Lift Tickets everyday, $60 Carload Days on April 7 & Acrobag at Ski Brule April 3-7. Play your visit today 800-362-7853.

12 Inches of snow in last 24 hours and it's still snowing! I received a call yesterday from a newspaper writing about the spring winding down of ski season. I laughed (politely of course) and said "Spring? Winding down of the season? Not at Ski Brule. We're just getting started!" And that's the truth! March means tons of snow, great temperatures and sunshine. Forecast calls for temps in the low 30's over the next week. It certainly doesn't get much better than this. I heard that Green Bay south to Chicago received a ton of rain the past several days and I'm so happy it stayed away from Ski Brule. So now we're into the "no matter what it looks like in your backyard, you can count on fabulous conditions at Ski Brule".

Those of you that stayed home because the weather man said 'don't go outside' certainly missed out! The slopes were AMAZING today! No wind, glorious sunshine and fabulous snow. And temps in the teens. Today Ski Brule hosted the Rhineland Ski & Snowboard meet. Great racing athletes!

The words "YES" made today very special for two 'Brulers' Sarah & Kevin. It's a sweet story of love that began at Ski Brule. Ski Brule was their first real date, the first "I love you" and earlier this month Kevin contacted me to take photos of he & Sarah when he asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. Of course I quickly agreed and can't think of a more beautiful setting than his choice of Timber Doodle (which is their favorite trail). So I enlisted the help of a Ski Brule Patroller and off we went to video and take photographs of the proposal today at 2:00 today. The sounds of "stop my boot is bothering me" was quickly followed by dropping to one knee and a lifelong promise of love. Thank you Kevin for including me in this special day. Best Wishes Sarah & Kevin! See you at the BBQ tonight! We'll dedicate tonight's torchlight parade to the two of you!

Another 6" of snow fell overnight and I almost (but didn't) feel guilty taking the t-bar up before normal lift start to ensure first tracks while my co-workers were busily working to remove the snow from the parking lots to let you in. It certainly was a rough ride to work but worth the extra time. Funny ... it snow and everyone shows up for work early at a ski area because we're all racing to get the first powder run. I am proud to say my dogs & I got first tracks today! I think they love the snow as much as me!!

Let's Play! I am sooooo tired of listening to the weather man talk about the doom and gloom weather report. "Don't go outside because you are going to freeze" .. really? With today's technology there's no reason to be cold on the slopes when the temps are in the teens. I chuckled answering the phone when the caller asked 'are you going to even open today?' I have our weekend of fun already planned ... tonight night snowboarding and dinner at Hillside Dining (Jamaican Chicken Wraps), they get to snowboard (while I work), Whitewater Snow Tubing, NASTAR followed by a sleigh ride to the Homestead BBQ for more tubing at Homestead Lodge. And if they can keep their eyes open, Karaoke in Brule saloon and torchlight parade. Then get up on Sunday morning and do it all again! Life is great!

4 Degrees overnight! That's exactly what we needed! The snowmaking is progressing quickly and additional terrain will open for the weekend. I'm waiting on the final word from the Mountain Crew as to which additional trail will open... which I will have later today.

November 21, 2012

My second most favorite day of the year (next to opening day) is Thanksgiving! Our friends join us for a day on the slopes, followed by a YUMMY Thanksgiving dinner (minus the cooking and dishes). I am so looking forward to that fist bite of turkey and stuffing. We have a lot to be thankful for ... starting with you. Thank you for being family and we look forward to your visit!

Great news from the snow crew! Big Bear will open on THURSDAY! That makes Otterslide, Log Jam, Bunny, Bambi & Big Bear. And another thing that we are thankful for is the cold weather heading our way... we're ready to fire up the snowmaking machines.

Wishing you a safe and enjoyable holiday!

"Are you open?" - A commonly asked question this week and the answer is "YES". How? It starts with snowmaking. As soon as the temperatures dropped, the snowmaking crew fired up the machines and continued to do so at every opportunity. With the arsenal of snowmaking machines at Ski Brule, we are able to pump out massive amounts of snow in a short time. And the result is Ski Brule is open when other resorts are not. The snow season is happening right now at Ski Brule. Don't miss out .. enjoy the Thanksgiving Holiday at Ski Brule. We're cooking turkey dinner too!

November 13, 2012

A beautiful snowy day at Ski Brule! Nothing better than the roar of snowmaking machines. The crew is on Otterslide, Big Bear and Bambi. We are hopeful that another trail will open for the weekend and several more for the Thanksgiving holiday week... that is if Mother Nature continues the cold temperatures. Tickets November 16-November 20 are $20 and normal rates ($42 adult & $36 junior) starting November 21. Remember to use your Friends and Neighbor's card on Wednesday for 1/2 off tickets.

I'm dreaming of Thanksgiving dinner already. Tender roasted turkey, honey ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes... and more. YUM! And the best part of turkey dinner at Ski Brule is .. .NO DISHES! Thanksgiving Dinner Rates: $12.95 adult, $9.95 junior & $5.95 kids.

Ski Brule is ready for the fun FREE day tomorrow! Bunny and Log Jam are open, serviced by Big Bear Chairlift and Bambi Rope Tow. I'm wondering who will get the 'I traveled the furthest for snow' award tomorrow. Indiana? Ohio? Minnesota?

It's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is right around the corner. I can almost smell the turkey roasting in the oven for Thanksgiving Dinner. It's the 22nd year for race camp during Thanksgiving break...You can always count on Ski Brule having snow during Thanksgiving break. Make your holiday plans at Ski Brule so you aren't disappointed when your reservation is cancelled elsewhere due to lack of snow. Onsite lodging is available but won't be for long. Give Jenn or Angela a call at 800-362-7853 and they will have you relaxing by a crackling fireplace for Thanksgiving.

It felt AMAZING to be back on snow. Had a fun filled opening day. Photos & video on Facebook - if you were here, tag yourself in the photos! Snowmaking looks marginal this week with predicted low of 30. This time of year the snow crew needs temps around 20 and low humidity to pump out the snow. We'll continue making snow at every opportunity in an effort to open additional terrain. See you on Friday!

A good night of snowmaking last night. Temps got down to 20 for a little while. Forecast looks decent for snowmaking over the next several days. November 9 is the target opening and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it may be sooner!

Gear has arrived at the Bear's Den. The jackets are AMAZING! Great colors this year!! New for 2012/13 at the Bear's Den is Icebreaker base layers. Icebreaker is a New Zeeland based company that specializes in wool (with style and no itch). The best part is their manufacturing plant is on the East coast, not New Zeeland. The K2 ski packages are ready for you too! $475 Includes skis, boots, poles, bindings, mounting and full tune.

Nothing makes us happier than the sounds of snowmaking in the air! The Ski Brule snow crew was at it last night. Made a bit of snow and forecast looks good but can't count on it with hurricane Sandy's warm winds. Ski Brule will continue to make snow at every opportunity and target opening is November 9. Watch last night's snowmaking video.

What a beautiful sight to see! Heavy frost this morning and 33 degrees. Nothing like a bit of 'brrrrrrrr' to get you thinking about winter. Cold temperatures this time of year is great for snowmaking because it will cool the water used for snowmaking, allowing for snowmaking at warmer temperatures. Did you know that in the fall, ideal temperatures for snowmaking is around 18 degrees? 32 Isn't cold enough due to warm water temperatures and high humidity. It will be here before we know it! Reminder: the advanced lift ticket special has been extended to September 30.

Deal 1: $30 Each - Normally $32 & tickets at Ski Brule are $42 ... best to buy now and save $12/ticket.

Deal 2: Buy 5 advanced lift tickets & get a FREE December ticket. The December ticket is valid Dec. 1-25.

Deal 3: Buy 6 advanced lift tickets & get a FREE ticket that's valid ANYTIME during 2012/13.
